Nepal is a multiethnic and multilingual country. People belonging to different ethnic group live in Nepal. Similarly, people belonging to various ethnic groups speak different languages. Nepal is known for unity among diversity. People belonging to different religion, cast/ethnic group and mother tongue live in harmony. Nepal is not only known for geographical diversity but it is equally known for social diversity. The social diversity has developed a multi-cultural society within the country, thus creating a beautiful garden, with different flowers of different cultural heritages. These different flowers are united in a single garland of national unity by the thread of unified Nepali cultural constituted by Nepalese identities like Nepali language, the language of nation.

According to the National Census 2001, the total population of the country is more then 20 million. Himalayan region has lowest population hilly region have little more populated then Himalayan region. Terai is densely populated area in Nepal. Where most of the industry are situated. It is touched with the Indian boarder. Employment chances are high in terai so every year people are migrating to terai in large no. Terai is also known as green granary of Nepal.

People of Nepal speak different language in different regions and communities. Nepali is the language of nation under the constitution of the country. Many languages are spoken in Nepal. People of Himalayan region speak Sherpa language, Tamang, gurung. Around the city area like Kathmandu mostly Newari language is spoken. In terai Bhojpuri, Maithali, Hindi is spoken. All the language has own identity. All the language is equally respected.
